Summary:
This moving biography recounts the life of Italian immigrant poet Pascal D'Angelo. The author includes some of D'Angelo's poems as well as archival photos of immigrant life, an extensive bibliography and an index.

Teaching Ideas:
This book adds an important dimension to a text set on immigration--the mind of a poor, exploited, humilated immigrant laborer. Readers can compare immigration in the early 1900's with today--types of jobs, numbers of immigrants, countries of origin, reverse migration, etc. Keeping a reading log will help readers track Pascal's progress in learning to express himself in English and the consequences. Students may want to share their immigrant experiences or those of family and friends.
