Title:  Shop Talk

 

Learner Level:     Level II Nova Scotia Adult Basic Upgrading

 

Pre-Instruction:  Students will have received basic computer skills training as per the course hand out.  These include the ability to use the Internet, email, word processing and printing. 

         

Duration: 2 hour  

 

Materials: Computer system, printer, Word processing program, Internet browser, hand out showing how to access site, create a login, receive email verifying login name and password, join a student forum and send and receive messages from students in other areas.

 

Objectives

  • To increase computer skills

  • To improve communication skills

  • To improve reading and writing skills

  • To acquire social studies skills as they send and receive messages from all across the province, sharing information on the areas in which they live.  

 

Procedure

  • Working in teams, students will access website, create logins, join a student forum and send messages to one another and students throughout the province.    

 

Evaluation

  • Observation of the instructor. 

  • A typed one-paragraph document telling to whom and from where they were able to receive messages. Document to be printed for instructor.
