Objectives:

The learner
will familiarize herself with the use if the Internet to search
for information relevant to her needs.

Locate
community resources in her community suitable for fieldtrips.

Reinforce
advances in reading and writing skills by using information on
the Internet to learn more about her area.
Procedure:
The learner
will explore in general the kinds of resources available in many
communities (for example, museums, bed and breakfast facilities,
USS Batfish, parks, etc.).
The learner
will prepare a list of community resources suitable for a class
field trip.
Using an
Internet search engine, the learner will locate the Web site for
a local chamber of commerce, museum, visitor’s bureau, etc.
For each
community resource, the learner will collect the following
information-name of resource, address, telephone number, web
site, hours of operation, cost of admission, etc.
Evaluation:
The instructor
will review the following:
The learner’s
list of community resources she plans to visit.
The learner’s
list of community resource information prepared using a Word
Processing application.
