Integrating Computer Technology into the Classroom

 

Title:                    Using the Web to Write:  An Intro to Blogging     

 

Learner Level:    Adults

 

Pre-Instruction: 

·       Basic Internet skills (navigation to website)

·       Pre-testing of terminology (see Evaluation below)

 

                          

Duration:            One hour session (further time for updating/posting as desired)       

              

Materials:       

·       computer with Internet access (including permissions to create blog, if needed on server)

·       paper and pen

 

Objectives:        

·       Participants will learn the terminology associated with on-line writing (blogging) and establish their own blog.

 

Procedure:        

1.                  Participants will complete the pre-test of blogging terminology.

2.                  Participants will go to www.netlingo.com to review terminology.

3.                  Participants will go to various examples of blogs:

·       www.edweek.org

·       http://whatshappeningatcnn.blogspot.com/

·       http://www.cbsnews.com/sections/publiceye/main500486.shtml

4.                  Participants will create their own blog at www.blogger.com

5.                  Participants will post their first entry.

 

Evaluation:       

·       Pre- and post-testing of terminology

·       Creation of blog

·       Maintenance of blog (on-going evaluation)
