Integrating Computer Technology into the Classroom

Title:                        Home Country

Learner Level:        Low Intermediate ESL

Pre-Instruction:       Show how to use Google image search.  Practice copying and pasting.

Duration:                2 hours      

Materials:              Computers, internet access and Mavis Beacon

Objectives:             Practice writing in English and incorporate basic computer skills such as typing, copying and pasting

Procedure:   

Begin class with 10 minutes of typing practice on Mavis Beacon (done every day). 

 
Have students think about a few sentences about their home country. Where is it located? How big, what language is spoken, etc etc.

Have students search online (Google images) for a picture or two from their country (a map or an image from the country…or both).

Students copy images and paste them into MSWord. Students write 3 or 4 sentences about their country.

Evaluation:             

Print the documents. Look over spelling and grammar.
