Title:                   ESOL – Describing Clothing

 

Learner Level:   ESOL : Beginners

 

Pre-Instruction:

Familiarize students with computer, mouse and keyboard, use Oxford Picture Dictionary workbook for visual & written assignments on Clothing.

                          

Duration:            90 minutes    

 

Materials:           Computer Notebook, LCD Projector, New Oxford Picture Dictionary software, Laundry Basket Filled with an Assortment of Clothes 

 

Objectives:           Students will be able to describe various items of clothing.  

 

Procedure:

Ø      Students will view NOPD software as a group

Ø      The will identify the items on the screen

Ø      The class will then be told that it is time to wash the laundry. They will be asked to identify the clothing that is taken out of the laundry basket. The items will be similar to the items in their books.

Ø      They will each be paired with another student with some computer skills.

Ø      They will practice recognizing clothing using a computer and the New Oxford Picture Dictionary on their own.

Ø      Students will be directed to the following websites for further practice at home or, if time permits, in the computer lab:

Evaluation:          

The evaluation will be both an informal observation of performance while describing clothing as well as the computer generated assessment which gives immediate feedback.
