Integrating Computer Technology into the Classroom Final Activity

 

Title:                   Consumer websites

 

Learner Level:    Intermediate-Advance ESL Students

 

Pre-Instruction:   Navigating the internet, using web sites and role of consumer Protection agencies.

                          

Duration:             Two or three hours depending of the student’s participation

 

Materials:           Computer Lab and Multimedia Projector

 

Objectives:

Students will familiarize with various important consumer websites and their services.   

 

Procedure:

Review and reinforce lesson “Explain and model navigating the internet and using websites” Show on the screen the following list of consumer sites:

 

  • Ask students to visit one site and find out what kind of information they have.

  • Ask them to open and minimize a word page for note-taking

  • Review how to write the address in the address bar.

  • Ask student to write about any service they found valuable for them.

 

Evaluation:

Have students print copies of any visited site and their notes for portfolio collection.

 

This is an EFF aligned lesson where the student reinforces his/her role in the family and community. It helps him/her become a more informed citizen and educated consumer who could then interact responsibly in other areas.
