Computer Scavenger Hunt Questions
Objectives:
·
to familiarize the
student with parts of the computer
·
to familiarize the
student with basic computer functions
·
to lessen
fear/anxiety and help student gain confidence on computers
·
to learn simple
computer vocabulary terms
Procedure:
(Prior to the tutoring session, the tutor turns on the computer,
opens MS Paint and then minimizes the program.) When this activity
begins the tutor reads the Orientation to Computer Rules to
the student discussing each point for clarity or questions. Seat
the student in front of the computer. The tutor shares a copy of
the Computer Scavenger Hunt Questionnaire. The tutor will
assist the student by reading each question aloud (together if
possible as a duet reading exercise). It may be necessary to read
the text answers aloud to the student with the multiple choice
questions, depending on the reading level of the student.
The
tutor has the option to make flashcards of computer vocabulary words
at any time during this activity. These flashcards can be used to
memorize whole words, practice ending sounds, vowel sounds or
beginning sounds during a regular lesson. If the flashcards are
made before the student has completed this activity make sure you do
not use vocabulary words the student has not been introduced to.
Evaluation:
The
tutor will document for student file how much information the
student is retaining; how long it took to finish the activity and
how comfortable the student is with the computer after the activity
is completed.
