AE-Pro LINCS Facilitator/Student - Expectations

What should participants of the online learning experience expect from the facilitator?

As a facilitator I will:

  1. create a learning environment that utilizes life, work, and educational experiences as key elements in the learning process in order to make it meaningful.
  2. present the curriculum in a manner that allows you to easily translate theories into applications.
  3. Reasonable accommodate your needs and desires for a good learning experience.
  4. ask for your  feedback and listen throughout the entire process.
  5. be concerned about your success.
  6. keep you aware of where you stand with respect to the course evaluation process on a regular basis (i.e. weekly updates of what has been turned in and what is missing).
  7. give the student timely and quality feedback on student contributions to discussion, homework, and quizzes.
  8. Use case studies, hand-ons experiences and problem-based scenarios as much as possible.
  9. treat everyone politely and with respect.
  10. be available online daily to provide guidance and feedback when necessary.

 

As an online student, you will be expected to:

  1. participate in the virtual classroom and Discussion Boards
  2. be able to complete assignments on time
  3. Be open minded about sharing life, work, and educational experiences as part of the learning process.
  4. Be able to communicate through writing.
  5. Be Self-motivated and self-disciplined.
  6. Be willing to "speak up" if problems arise.
  7. Be willing and able to commit to 2 to 4 hours per week per course.
  8. Accept critical thinking and decision making as part of the learning process.
  9. Have access to a computer and a modem.
  10. Be able to think ideas through before responding.
  11. Treat everyone with respect
