This alternative delivery professional development opportunity is for all GED/ESOL teachers, directors and coordinators.
DESIGN YOUR OWN PD. Enhance your own growth and that of other teachers as you participate in this new alternative delivery professional development offering! The NEABLE library has titles (books and DVDs) specifically selected for professional development. Select a title from this list, digest the materials, and "design your own PD." Suggestions for action are:
1. Write a review of the materials,
2. Implement change in your program/class based on the materials,
3. Hold a discussion group with your colleagues,*
4. Teach the material at a local/regional workshop,* or
5. Publish an article on the topic in a newsletter such as Friday NewsBriefs, TAPAS, the OAACE Newsletter, or the Ohio TESOL Journal.*

The activity involves the following steps:
1. To get started, go to the NEABLE library website, www.neablelibrary.org and type in "professional development" in the SUBJECT search box. Search through the listings to find a title which strikes your interest and reserve the material.
2. The next step is registration. Register for DESIGN YOUR OWN PD on the Training Calendar and indicate the title you have chosen in the space marked "special needs." We will send you the materials necessary to complete the training. Recommended loan time is one month after receipt.
3. After reviewing the material, implement your personally designed PD and write a synopsis of what you did and the outcome. Focus on how the information relates to your teaching experience/program or adult education in general.
4. Return the materials with your synopsis of the activity or review of the materials with a signed stipend request/evaluation form ($30) and a certificate of completion will be sent to you. |
