| Description This alternative delivery professional development opportunity is for all ABE tachers. The purpose of this training is for teachers to brush up on their math skills and improve their teaching techniques. Basic Math - Part 5 contains one DVD with five lessons. The lessons on the DVD include: Graphing in the Coordinate Plane, Number Theory, Number Patterns I, Number Patterns II, and Statistics. Each topic is covered in an easy to understand, 30 minute lesson. Math vocabulary and contextual examples are important parts of the training. Learners have opportunities to practice the skills being taught during each of the five lessons, and there is an assessment worksheet included with each lesson. The activity involves the following steps: 1. Review the outline for the lesson. 2. Watch the video lesson. 3. Complete the assessment worksheet for the lesson. Check the assessment worksheet using the enclosed answer key. 4. Record the necessary information on the Basic Math Chart. 5. Reflect on the lesson. Record your impressions as both a teacher and a learner. 6. Return the DVD with a copy of the reflective Basic Math Chart and a signed stipend request/evaluation form ($30) and a certificate of completion will be sent to you. |
