Description Explore a new supplemental instructional tool and boost your content knowledge all at once! This alternative delivery professional development opportunity is open to all ABE instructors. The purpose is to give instructors a way to supplement their mathematics content knowledge on their own time. Khan Academy has been nationally recognized for its use as an educational aide. The website offers videos in a variety of topics, not just mathematics. Each video is focused on a specific topic. This keeps each video relatively short and allows users to select only those videos they think will benefit them. Videos will cover not only the concepts behind each topic, but many will also include examples being worked out so that users will become familiar with mathematical procedures used to solve different types of problems. ABLE professionals signing up for this PD activity will receive an email with a link to the list of videos for this section. They will also be able to access a post-assessment that they can take to test their mastery of the content covered in the videos as well as an answer key to the post-assessment. The videos for this section will cover the following topics: Basic properties Solving problems Solving equations Line equations and graphing To complete the professional development, participants must complete and submit the reflection form made available on the website containing the list of videos.
