Description
Gail Weinstein, Ph.D. shares her experiences and the experiences of six Community Based Organizations as partners in sponsoring literacy learning focused on shared student writings. These writings become the catalyst for contextualized learning projects that lead to authentic and entirely relevant learning for the students.

The associated video in addition to the text gives an essential overview that highlights the learning experiences of the six partner organizations as shared by some of the students and teachers. The variety exhibited by the partner organizations indicates that the methodology might be helpful in many, if not all, learning situations.

The activity involves:
1. Viewing the VHS tape and reading the book Learners' Lives as Curriculum.
2. Writing a reflection paper indicating how this format and model might be developed to implement in their current program.
