Description This alternative delivery training is appropriate for all teachers, but especially for those teaching ESOL and EL/Civics. All materials are provided by the Northeast ABLE Resource Center. Priya Rao left India when she was twenty to study in the United States, and she's never been back. Now, seven years later, she's out of excuses. She has to return and give her family the news: She's engaged to Nick Collins, a kind, loving American man. Marrying a foreigner is going to break their hearts. Her mother and father insist that it's time they arranged her marriage to a "nice Indian boy." Now she is forced to choose between the love of her family and the love of her life. The activity involves the following steps: 1. Read the book. 2. After reading the book, write a reaction paper focusing on how the book relates to your teaching experience. 3. Return the book with your reaction paper to the Northeast ABLE Resource Center along with the evaluation form, and a Certificate of Completion will be sent to you. Contact hours for this activity are 2.5 hrs.
