Description
This alternative delivery training is appropriate for all GED/ESOL teachers, teachers' aides, and adult literacy tutors.

How to Teach Reading is a handy guide written by a foremost reading authority to aid teachers and tutors in teaching their adult students to read.

How to Teach Reading assists the teacher in determining a student's reading ability and suggests reading material, games, word lists, and activities to improve his or her reading. This book is written from the standpoint of a teacher working with an individual student, but the methods can also be used with small groups and adult basic education classes.

The activity involves the following steps:

1. Read the book.
2. Write a reflective paper focusing on how this guide aids in teaching reading using the rapid overview of some proven methods and how the manual's six basic steps relate to your teaching experience with your students and their basic reading skills.
3. Return the book with your reaction paper to the Northeast ABLE Resource Center along with the evaluation form, and a Certificate of Completion will be sent to you.
