Reflective Practice in Action: 80 Reflection Breaks for Busy Teachers by Thomas S.C. Farrell

This book on reflective teaching is a prescription for avoiding "burnout" and perfect for any of us who want to improve our professionalism. Although the author recommends reading the first four chapters for background in reflective practice, it is possible for participants to start anywhere in the book to choose from the different types of reflective methods. You might want to try one or more on your own, with a friend, or in a group. There are 80 "Reflection Break" activities to chose from, any one of which will heighten awareness of good teaching practice.

The activity involves the following steps:

1. Read the book and/or choose a reflective activity to do.
2. After reading, write a reflective paper focusing on how you will use the "Reflection Breaks" activities in your professional development/or what the activities revealed to you.
3. Return the book with your reaction paper and evaluation form, and a Certificate of Completion will be sent to you.
