Description:
DoHistory invites you to explore the process of piecing together the lives of ordinary people in the past. It features an online diary of Martha Ballard who kept a dialy diary for about 27 years from 1785 until 1812. She was a midwife, mother and wife. This is an excellent site to use to teach about history and how documents are pieced together to learn more about history. Be sure to start with Who is Martha Ballard for linnks to photographs and a timeline as well as a tour of the town where she lived.

Comments:
Extension activites can include learners compiling a diary to illustrate a particular event in American history.
