This site is an interactive web quest to learn about The Great Depression . Students will gain insight into the lives of people who lived during the Great Depression by studying photographs and life histories. Students can read Life Histories from American Life Histories: Manuscripts from the Federal Writer's Project, 1936-1940. These life histories were written based on actual interviews of people who lived during the Great Depression. Life Histories include the following: Anna Alden Minnie Caranfa, Experiences of a Farm Owner, Miss Henrietta C. Dozier , Four Families, Mountain Town , I Managed to Carry On, Not Much of a Day for Walking, Squatter, Unwelcome Caller and many more. Students can see photographs from America from the Great Depression to WW II, 1935-1945 in American Memory at the Library of Congress . |
