This site features great content accompanied by hands-on activities including touring the battlefield via the Internet, writing and delivering a speech, learning about the women of the Civil War, writing journal entries as a response, writing about a Civil War ballad and many more activities. Active Internet links are included throughout the lesson plans as well as easy to read instructions.

Be sure to check out the Battlefield tour, Civil War medical conditions, Sullivan Ballou's letter home, and the Union and Confederate ballads of the Civil War. Learners will enjoy working in pairs or small groups to learn about the medical conditions or women of the Civil War. Small groups will enjoy checking out the ballads and writing a response to them or creating their own ballad based on what they have learned about the war from this site and their reading.
