Standard: Read with Understanding

Outcomes Students will use the jigsaw strategy to read fire safety information from a variety of sources and summarize the information they have read to share with the rest of the class. They will use reading strategies to find the meanings to unfamiliar words and monitor their comprehension.

While students are building their reading skills, they can also create a piece of information for other parents who are concerned about fire safety.

Summarizing is an important skill for students to use in their reading and writing activities.
