Component of Performance How activity addresses component
Determine the reading purpose Students will identify texttoself, texttotext, or text to world connections with the selected reading materials.
Select reading strategies appropriate to the purpose Uses text clues and prior knowledge to make logical predictions/inferences. Students will use 1who, what, when, where, and why' to construct healthrelated questions.
Monitor comprehension and adjust reading strategies Identifies strategies used to clarify words or ideas not understood and possible confusions before and during reading.
Analyze information and reflect on its underlying meaning Students stop to summarize, during reading, what has happened and can identify main points of the text and place them in logical order.
Integrate it with prior knowledge to address reading purpose Discusses changes in behavior about the health topics researched and tells how each comprehension strategy helps with increasing understanding of text.
