Teaching Ideas:
This book makes a beautifully illustrated contribution to a text set on immigration. Because the author also develops the theme of skills passed from one generation to another, the book could introduce a family history unit with students discussing and writing about skills they have learned from elders or interviewing older family members about immigration or migration experiences.
