Teaching Ideas:
Note that there is plenty of text in this suspenseful 62-page book. The scratchboard art is wonderful, and the opening map is helpful for charting the journey. The political events are fascinating and make this book a likely part of a text set on immigration and persecution. It could be paired with Grab Hands and Run and/or Tonight, by Sea (both by Temple). Teachers may want to present the book as a DR-TA or encourage response journals. Judaism: www.judaism.miningco.com/religion/judaism Africa: www.africa.com
