Photographs illustrate the story of a modern reenactment of a covered wagon train journey on the Oregon Trail on the Flathead Indian Reservation in Montana.

Teaching Ideas:
The book encourages comparisons of then and now--transportation, equipment, routes, and so on. Why would modern families want to recreate the trip of a wagon train? The map suggests possibilities for following the wagon train routes and computing the distance and the time required. The book is an excellent easy reading addition to the large text set on Westward Expansion.
