Teaching Ideas: |
This book could be used to start a discussion and research into various environmental and economic themes. The story of Wangari is a good example of how one person really can make a difference and could be paired with Pearl Moskowitz Last Stand. Students can find and report on other examples of how one person made a difference in history or in their own lives. Students could find out what kind of trees Wangari might have been planting, then find out what kind of trees grow in their own neighborhoods. Students could also research other Nobel Peace Prize winners. |
