Summary:
This is not exactly a sequel to Make Lemonade, but the style is similar and many of the characters are the same-- LaVaughn, her mother, Jolly and her children [they have a minor role in this book]. LaVaughn is 15, lives in the inner city, and struggles with both adolescence and her goals for adulthood.

Teaching Ideas:
This is an engaging book. Readers may want to keep response journals as they read; these can be used for class discussion. Topics for discussion or writing might include the role of mentors, setting and achieving goals, stereotyping. Those who have read Make Lemonade (see Make Lemonade lesson plan) will be interested in considering LaVaughn's changes and their possible sources.
