Summary:
The story of Satchel Paige's baseball career told by a fictional baseball player who once batted against Paige. Biographical and historical information are included in a preface and appendix.

Teaching Ideas:
Satchel Paige was hired by the Cleveland Indians, but he was not the first Black hired by the team. Compare and contrast Satchel and Larry Doby. Or compare with Jackie Robinson. Research the Black Baseball Leagues and teams. This book could be used to begin a discussion and exploration of discrimination, Jim Crow laws, and integration.
