Summary:
This story atlas describes on facing pages activities at a particular place and time in U.S. history, e.g. Fort Laramie during the westward expansion on the Oregon Trail in 1849. Included are community and building diagrams with numbered points of interest and additional endnotes in research techniques. Teachers may have to help students with the various print sizes and give some instruction in how to read the book productively.

Teaching Ideas:
Teachers can excerpt a section to supplement historical studies. Students can use the book's format to create a diagram of their town or city at some important date. Plot the book on a timeline of American history and then add other important events, wars, etc.
