This book tells the story of a Japanese survivor of the atomic bomb and offers a perspective on how the "enemy" suffered too.

Teaching Ideas:
Teachers may want to supplement this book with nonfiction historical information about why the bomb was dropped and geography work with maps. It would fit well with a World War II text set, including Faithful Elephants and Say's Grandfather's Journey and Kodama's Shin's Tricycle. Look at the Peace Memorial Museum website www.sci.ad.ip/ABOMB/pmm.html.
