Summary:
This book, written almost in a scrapbook format, tells about Michael Collins, who stayed with the spacecraft while fellow astronauts Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin walked on the moon. The book contains diagrams, charts, and black and white and colored photographs. (Note: Batchelder Honor Book)

Teaching Ideas:
This book belongs with a biography text set. Encourage students to browse through the book, noting the use of multiple formats to tell the story--graphics, letters, pictures, charts, and text. Students might want to do a copy/change activity using multiple formats to convey information. Many of the quotes would be wonderful prompts for writing/ discussion. Classes might want to keep a K-W-L chart of what they learn about space flight.
