Teaching Ideas:
This could be used as part of a WW II unit (along with Hanna's Cold Winter and Faithful Elephants). It could be used with Fisher's Kinderdike for a unit on Holland or could be used with maps in a geography lesson. Students may want to discuss taking personal risks for people from other communities or talk about their own experiences with war.
