Summary:
Although the title is a clever pun, this book recounts the history of storing language from tablets to information systems, highlighting famous libraries in the process. Side bars include additional facts and many web sites are included in the resources.

Teaching Ideas:
This book could be used in a small set on libraries including The House of Wisdom, The Librarian of Basra, The Library, The Librarian Who Measured the Earth, and The Library at Alexandria. Readers could locate the libraries mentioned on a map. Teachers might ask students to reflect on their experiences with information sharing: how do they get their information? where do they get it and why? and how do they know they can trust the sources of information they use? Students could choose one of the historical libraries and search the Internet for additional information to present to the class. A trip to the local library with a scavenger-type hunt would provide reinforcing experience of the system of organization. The topic of whether libraries are out of date in the age of computers would make a good discussion/writing exercise. Another topic might be the importance of libraries to the community, historic and present day.
