Bracketed by an introduction and conclusion, the book describes the migrations of six very different creatures.

Teaching Ideas:
Since the book does not include maps, readers will want to trace the migration routes on a map, perhaps calculating the distances traveled. Because each section ends with the statement that scientists do not know with certainty what enables these creatures to travel in the right direction and to recognize their destinations, students may want to research keywords "animal migration, explanation" on the Internet to prepare for discussion and writing.
