This is a topical history of women in early America (1600s to beginning of American Revolution). Primary source material is used to the extent possible. Lives of White, Black and Native American women are featured. An index, bibliography, and a website bibliography end the book.

Teaching Ideas:
Certainly this book belongs in a text set about women's history or Colonial America. Students may want to compare lives of white, black, and Native American women, to consider the women's roles in progress in early America, or to complete then-and-now studies about aspects of women's lives. Chapters deal with particular topics, so the text is easily excerpted. Bibliographies offer additional texts. A Yahooligans search on "Colonial America" offers WWW material to complement the text.
