Compare/contrast Jeannette's life in different phases--in the desert, in Welch, at college, in New York as an adult. This book would be a powerful read for adults in basic education classrooms - although teachers should be prepared to deal with students' reactions to Wall's portrayal of poverty, abuse and neglect. | |
