Teaching Ideas:
Teachers may want to pick and choose from this collection to combine with text sets or to read aloud. Students may choose a poem to present in class or may want to read Cooper's biography of Hughes, Coming Home, with the poems. The poems written in dialect may confuse some readers, but most of them are easily accessible.
