Teaching Ideas:
As with all myths and legends, teachers will want to introduce the book carefully so that learners understand the reasons for its use. Students may be surprised at the similarities between this story and Beauty and the Beast. They may wish to use some lines from the book (e.g., "Love cannot live without trust.") as the basis for their own personal writing. This book would be a good addition to a text set about mythology or love. Pairs of learners could collaborate to create charts about the problems, solutions, magical powers, roles of the gods, and "moral" across several myths. Comparison/contrast discussion or writing could ensue. www.loggin.com/myth/content.html
