Colorful photographs and simple text present people around the world obtaining water to drink. End matter includes a map, geographic locations of photos, and an essay on water conservation that teachers will find useful.

Teaching Ideas:
ESOL and beginning readers will find the photos and text helpful in developing vocabulary. More advanced students may want to research water conservation via an Internet keyword search which produces these sites and others with information, possibilities for math activities, and teaching materials: www.waterconserv.info/; www.epalgov/watrhome.you/intro.htm; and www.h2ouse.org/. Your local water conservation agency may also have useful materials. All learners can improve map skills by guessing the countries in the photos and then locating them on the map in the end pages. The book A Drop of Water would be a good supplement.
