Summary:
This beautifully illustrated book retells Homer's epic poem The Iliad about the Trojan War. A glossary of names is included.

Teaching Ideas:
Because the story is long, teachers may want to excerpt sections or to read it aloud over time. Charts or matrixes of characters, their traits and family connections or gods, and their actions would help students deal with the complexity of the plot. Timelines of the two sides in the war might help as well. Although the book is best used with advanced ABE students, the descriptive, action-filled narrative is worth the effort.
