Summary:
A family finds a baby on its doorstep with a note asking them to care for the baby indefinitely. Teaching Ideas:
Perhaps this story should not be taught, but should just be read and enjoyed and discussed. However, discussions on family (on raising children not your own) and on dealing with grief could easily follow. If teachers choose to work with various component parts of the book, they may want to examine the author's use of language to create a mood and to create images.
