Summary:

This wordless book by the Japanese artist Anno depicts a journey through Italy in space and time. Along the way many items appear that the reader can identify from nursery rhyme characters to events in the life of Christ.

Teaching Ideas:

The author includes a "note about the pictures" which provides a list of items to find. Readers will have great fun making lists of games and jobs as well. These games provide an opportunity for vocabulary building. A book on Italian architecture should help identify buildings. Wordless books always invite readers to invent a story.
