Summary:
A young girl shares her food with those behind barbed wire in Nazi Germany. The title was the name of the German resistance movement during Hitler's regime.

Teaching Ideas:
This makes an obvious part of WW II or Holocaust units. Teachers could also spend time talking about the significance of the title (RB was the name of the German resistance movement) and about irony ("spring sang"). Students may want to discuss civil disobedience or the difference between a country's government and its people.
