Teaching Ideas:
This book would provide a wonderful introduction to the study of history, especially the history of a place. Learners may want to create timelines or to use the book as a copy change activity for creating something similar about their own communities. Students might want to speculate about the location. They might also be interested in exploring reasons for the major changes depicted in the book. Teachers can use this book with other books in our collection offer the same "back through time" perspective such as A Street Through Time and My Place. The Internet site library.thinkquest.org/3011/indexge.htm?tqskip=1 provides an overview of archaeology.
