Teaching Ideas:
Teachers will want to examine the text before using it with learners. It may be advisable to review (or teach) certain scenes from Shakespeare's plays beforehand. This book could be used as a reference source about Shakespeare or early theatre. It also provides information about Elizabethan England so could be a good source for examining aspects (government, life and times) of Elizabethan England. Students may also want to read Shakespeare's biography in Krull's Lives of the Writers or to read Othello, A Novel (Lester) or William Shakespeare's The Tempest (Colville). The Globe Research Database (http://www.rdg.ac.uk/globe/) offers interesting information about Shakespeare, the original Globe, and the new Globe recently opened in London.
