Teaching Ideas:
Certainly learners will want to listen to whale music and, perhaps, explore the purposes of this singing in whales' lives. Some may be interested in the broader issue of animal communication. Teachers may want to focus on the issue of community, how all the villagers worked together to save the whales. The illustrations have won an award; they are worth inspection and discussion. Learners may want to compare different types of whales or conduct an inquiry focused on migration.
