Teaching Ideas:
Teachers will want to consider this book carefully before deciding to use it. Some Reading Group members found it stereotypical, too "preachy and predictable." Both of these issues could be dealt with instructionally, however. And students may want to consider questions like, Should children read this book? Why? In family literacy contexts, learners could use the book as a springboard for discussion about ways to guide their children's thinking and actions about violence.
