Teaching Ideas:
Map the routes that Amelia flew. Research planes then compared to present day, as well as changes in passenger flights. Research women's rights at this time and research changes made. Discuss Amelia's support systems. Comparison chart of strong women in history with characteristics/attributes of these women selected. Part of a text set for students to use in this research. Others might include Roosevelt, O'Keefe, Curie, Tubman, etc. Map study also possible with this book. Many illustrations provide for discussion of the times Earhart lived in including the development of aviation and the opportunities women were allowed.
