Summary:
A sickly child, a poor student and a medical school dropout, Leon Foucault proved that the world rotated by designed the pendulum that proves that the earth moves on its axis, a puzzle that had eluded more learned scientists for decades.

Teaching Ideas:
This book would make a really interesting readers' theater script for a science class. It would add participation, knowledge and fluency. The Cleveland Natural History Museum has a pendulum exhibit in the lobby. Wonderful book for the history of science and lots of pictures to discuss. Good introduction to the study of the earth and what scientists do.
