This collection features 25 poems about different aspects of winter. Several very well known poets are included: Shakespeare, Wordsworth, Frost, Dickinson, Sandburg.

Teaching Ideas:
Selections from this book would make good additions to study of weather, climate, seasons, etc. The imagery in many of the poems is very strong and may be helpful for focusing on figurative language in reading or writing. As with many poems, these would be good choices for rehearsal and oral presentation (a good way to build fluency). Most response activities will work well too. Shakespeare www.jetlink.net/~massij/shakes; Dickinson www.learner.org/catalog/literature.vvseries.vvspot/Dickinson.html; Frost www.robertfrost.org; Sandburg www.norfacad.pvt.k12.va.us/project/sandburg.htm
