Short mystery/horror story depicting the sequence of events as a werewolf terrorizes a small town in Maine over the course of a year. A ten year old parapalegic uncovers the mystery and slays the beast with the help of his fun loving uncle. Short chapters and an easy sequence of events makes this a fun, quick read. Recommended with guidance for the spooky time of year when the days start getting shorter. This is a Stephen King book and graphic depictions of violence/colorful language abound

Teaching Ideas:
Book club to engage reluctant readers in the exploration of literature for craft and structure/key ideas and details. Theme of cycles of nature could be integrated with science lessons on cycles of seasons, biological cycles, etc. Every culture seems to have a myth of a creature that one could compare to the werewolf, making for interesting research and discussion.
